Safety & Your Child | Newborn/Infant Safety | Toddler/Preschooler Safety | Schoolager Safety | Teenager Safety | Summertime Safety

There are many hazards in a child’s environment everyday. As a parent, it is important that you are aware of these issues before they cause a problem. Safety issues change as a child grows and as the seasons come and go. Town & Country Pediatrics has listed safety issues according to the age range of the child. Please note that your particular home environment may have safety concerns beyond what is listed here.

For All Households:

  • Install smoke detectors on every floor, test them monthly and change the batteries yearly
  • Install carbon monoxide detectors, test them monthly
  • Have furnace serviced every year prior to use
  • Keep fire extinguishers in the kitchen and by the furnace and fireplace
  • Create a fire escape plan with a safe family meeting spot
