Top Ten Reasons to Consult a Toxicologist

  1. Any acute overdose and its follow-up, including drug withdrawal
  2. Any exposure to hazardous materials/industrial poisons, such as solvents, carbon monoxide or heavy metals.
  3. Interpretation of drug or toxin blood/urine/hair tests.
  4. Toxin exposure of the pregnant/lactating woman and the evaluation of exposure to the neonate.
  5. Evaluation of mental status changes, hepatitis, neuropathy, dermatitis or cardiomyopathy of unknown cause.
