Professional Public Service

Health Education for Elementary School Students:  Visited a fifth grade classroom at a Chicago Public School in order to educate about sexually transmitted diseases in an interactive format: “Sex Jeopardy”.  (2007) 

 

Health Education for At-Risk Adolescents:  Spent an evening at a

residential home for at-risk teens, Uhlich Home, educating about the

HPV vaccine and the risks of sexual intercourse.  Returned on a

subsequent evening and administered the first of the series of three

HPV vaccines to young women who had shown an interest after receiving

the initial information.  (2007)  

 

General Health Information and Anticipatory Guidance for Parents.

Sat on a panel with two other pediatric colleagues for parents of preschool age children and provided general pediatric advice in an open question/answer discussion format. (2007)

 

Teaching

 

Taught Upper Intermediate English to Mexican University Students. 

Acted as a teaching assistant through Saint Louis University Study Abroad

Program at Universidad Iberoamericana, Puebla, Mexico.  (2001)

teaching pediatric interns and medical students on various clinical

Primary Care Lectures:

Developed numerous presentations on such topics as:  Newborn Screen,

Childhood Food Allergies, Allergic Rhinitis, Car Seat Safety, Breastfeeding, Maternal serologies, Discipline (2005-2007)

 

Resident Noon Conference Presentation.  Presented lecture on Cardiogenic Syncope (2007).  Also presented this lecture as a senior resident for cardiology.

 

Resident Noon Conference Presentation.  Presented lecture on Airplane Medicine. (2007)
