On October 29, 2007, The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended universal screening for autism at 18 and 24 months of age. Town and Country Pediatrics has been screening for autism and other developmental delays with the developmental screening tools Ages and Stages and the Ages and Stages Social/Emotional questionnaires for 3 ½ years. The screening test specific for autism spectrum disorders is called the MCHAT. This test is currently administered at the 18 and the 24 month well child visits. Screening tests and office visits together help us learn more about your child developmentally. The AAP news release is available and also outlines early signs of autism and autism "Red Flags" Click Here
If you have any concerns about your child's development or autism spectrum disorders, call the office.
